TDJ: Alia Ramadan (Zurich, CH)
About Alia: “My journey with tango music began long before I ever danced tango, and it was a love affair that only grew stronger with each passing year. I spent countless hours studying and listening and analyzing the subtle nuances of each piece and learning about the history and cultural significance of the genre.
As a tango DJ, I see myself as a storyteller, creating a musical journey that takes dancers on a transformative experience. I pay close attention to the energy levels of the crowd and adjust the tempo and mood accordingly to ensure everyone has a memorable and enjoyable experience.
For the past several years, I have had the privilege of sharing my love for tango music as a DJ in numerous European cities as well as playing at some of Buenos Aires’ most renowned milongas.
My inspiration comes from the many encounters and exchanges with old milongueros who grew up during the golden age of tango in Buenos Aires. They have shared their stories, their passion, and their love for the music, and it is this connection that I seek to capture and convey in every set I play. Whether it’s the sultry sounds of the bandoneón or the playful rhythms of the piano, my goal is to create a musical journey that touches the soul and moves the feet.”
